Highland Hundred Hosts Golf Tournament
Tournament Benefits Tiger Football
Memphis, TN - The Tenth Annual Tommy West/Highland Hundred / Les Phillips Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday, June 8 at Memphis National Golf Course.
Bidding has begun in the silent auction to win the opportunity to have your favorite Tiger football coach play on your team. Minimum bid is $150 and bids must be placed by June 1 to John Flowers at the University of Memphis. Winners will be notified on June 2.
The golf tournament is a four-man scramble with shotgun starts at 8:00 am and 1:30 pm with lunch served from noon to 1:30 pm. Cost is $150 per person and registration is due by June 1. The annual fundraiser benefits the University of Memphis Tiger football program.
Hole sponsorships are available for $150. All sponsors will have an individual sign displaying the company name positioned on either a tee or green.
Coach West stresses the significance of this fundraiser. "The Highland Hundred golf tournament is the main support of our football camp, which is vital to our program. We appreciate the support of this very important event."
The Highland Hundred was created in 1958 when Billy "Spook" Murphy asked local business leaders to unite in the support of Tiger football. The name came into being because the group met near campus on Highland Street and the goal was to have 100 members with the common desire to support the Memphis football program.
