CBHS Tops St. Benedict for Region Soccer Title

The Christian Brothers Purple Wave wins beat St. Benedict Tuesday Night for the TN Division 2-AA Region Championship at Briarcrest.

The 1-Nil victory earns the Brothers their 11th Straight Regional Championship.

Head Coach Rogerio Lima says the Boys turned up their intensity in the second half, as shown by CBHS huge shots on goal advantage, 10-to-2.

The match was very competitive from the outset as players on both teams are very familiar with each other, having played with and against each other on various club and school teams.

"We've played most of those guys since we were little kids", said Sweeper Daniel Drury.

"It's always a tough match", added Forward/Midfielder J.J. Greer. Defender Colby Bowles said,"now, we've got a bigger goal to get to, that's win State."

The Brothers have been State Runnerup the last 5-years in a Row.

To get back to Murfreesboro, they'll have to win their Sub-State match against either Nashville Father Ryan, or Nashville Montgomery Bell Academy.

The game will be Saturday at Christian Brothers.

Father Ryan beat CBHS for the State Title last year on Penalty Kicks.

M.U.S. beat Briarcrest for Third place in the Region 3-Nil.

M.U.S. and St. Benedict will go on the Road for Sub-State Staturday.
