OXFORD, MS (WMC-TV) - A Mid-South woman who won big recently on 'Wheel of Fortune' is giving back to her community.

Wednesday, Jacquelyn Brubaker went about her normal duties as a waitress for the Ajax Diner in downtown Oxford, Mississippi.  But after recently appearing on Wheel of Fortune, Brubaker's fortune changed quickly, and for the better.

"(I won) $45,000 cash, and a week long trip to Oahu, and a 10 day tour of France," she said.

Her prize winnings totaled over $58,000. For Brubaker, it was a dream come true to appear on the show, and it came at a time in her life when she faced with a serious medical condition and had no insurance.

"I found out that I would have to have surgery, so as you can imagine, pretty devastating news for a waitress and bartender that literally lives from day to day," she said.
That bill can now be paid. Brubaker also believes her 'fortune' comes with a responsibility to give back to others. She plans to make donations to the local food bank and the animal shelter, but it doesn't end there.

"There's also a place called Angel Ranch here in town," she said. "They take in homeless children I believe. They all do so much for our communities."

Best friend and co-worker Rebecca Richards is filled with pride.

"It couldn't have come at a better time in Jaq's life, and she gives so much back to the community and she's such an energetic person," Richards said.

Brubaker taped the show in March, and it aired on May 5th. She says since the show aired she has become the "Wheel of Fortune Lady' around town, and everyone has been kind and gracious in offering their congratulations.

Wheel of Fortune airs weeknights at 6:30pm on WMC-TV 5.
