Third case of Swine Flu diagnosed in Shelby Co.

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A third case of the H1N1 virus, commonly known as Swine Flu, has been diagnosed in a person living in Shelby County.

Officials with the Memphis and Shelby County Health Department said Monday the Swine Flu specimen was detected in an adult resident of Shelby County.

Health Department Public Information Officer Nicole Lacey-Hall encouraged residents of the county to continue the use of good hygiene.

"The Department is continuing to emphasize that people practice good hygiene by washing their hands frequently, coughing into their sleeve or a tissue," Lacey-Hall said in a press release.  "And, if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, stay at home."

Health Department officials are continuing surveillance to determine how widespread the virus might be in the county, Lacey-Hall said.
