MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC-TV) - A wild chase on busy Memphis streets that ended in gunfire Tuesday began when one driver shot another for cutting him off in traffic.

The incident started when one driver cut off another at Sam Cooper Boulevard and East Parkway. At the next red light at Poplar and Parkway, the second driver exited his car and attempted to assault the man who had cut him off . Police say the argument continued as both drivers made their way through Midtown.

When the second driver reached the corner of Eastmoreland and Pauline, he fired a weapon from the window of his vehicle, shooting the victim in his right side, shoulder and arm.

Police say there may have been a woman and child in the car with the suspect when he fired those shots.

The 21-year-old victim drove himself to The Regional Medical Center, where he's listed in stable condition.

Memphis Police are looking for a gray Nissan Versa believed to be the suspect's car.

If you have any information that can help police, call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
