Analog TV signals to be interrupted in 'soft test'

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Television stations around the country, including WMC-TV 5, will replace their analog broadcasts for a few minutes Thursday with reminders that those broadcasts will disappear completely in three weeks.

The stations will turn off their analog broadcasts on June 12 as part of a nationwide mandate to move to more efficient digital signals.

For Thursday's "soft test," WMC-TV 5's analog broadcasts will be interrupted at 7:25am, 12:25pm, and 6:25pm.

Households that have all their sets hooked up to cable or satellite feeds will be unaffected by the analog shutdown.

If you want more information about the digital transition, WMC-TV 5 is setting up a phone bank to answer your questions during Thursday's test.
