MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - For the Kingsbury High Soccer team, Friday's return to Memphis was a warm welcome home.

"I wish we could've stayed longer, but that's ok. It feels great," coach Jihad Haidar said.

Haidar and his Falcons were grateful for the opportunity to compete in their first Tennessee state tournament in school history.

"When we started the season no one ever thought we'd go this far, and we took it a step at a time and they believed in themselves," Haidar said. "That's the main thing."

The Falcons' winning streak ended with a 2-1 loss to the nationally ranked Cleveland Blue Raiders.  Despite the upset, teammates said they still have their supporters to thank.

"We kinda felt that we disappointed them by all the support they gave us and we came back with a loss," player Fakhry Khulfin said.

"It's upsetting, but to see us go to state for the first time is unexpected," player Francisco Diaz added.

For the team, getting to the Class AAA (3-A) tournament wasn't easy.  They struggled to come up with enough money to make the trip. The team raised money for a bus and more, thanks to $15,000 in donations.

"We called the coach and found out how much they needed, and myself, parents, and co-workers raised some money to help them go," supporter Stephanie Hulleager said.

Something both the supporters and team said they were proud of.
