The Big Switch: Rescan required on June 12

We are just away from the switch to digital television. We know many of you have been ready for the digital transition for some time now. Most of our viewers watch us on cable TV or satellite, and those people did not have to do anything to prepare for the transition.

The Big Switch has had its biggest impact on our viewers who receive our signal using an antenna - either rabbit ears or an outdoor antenna. This group of people will need to take one important, final step to complete the transition on June 12th. On that day, WMC-TV 5 and many other television stations throughout the country will be moving from a temporary digital channel to our permanent new digital channel.

In order for you to receive WMC after we make that switch, you will need to re-scan the channels on your digital television or digital converter box. You may need to refer to the instructions for your equipment in order to do this. Also, it will not do any good for you to re-scan today. This is something that you will have to do after we make our final conversion on June 12th. We plan on making the switch to our new, more powerful transmitter at 12:01 a.m., the very first thing on the morning of Friday, June 12th. So as soon as you wake up on that Friday morning, we hope you'll remember to re-scan the channels on your TV sets so you'll be able to continue watching WMC-TV 5. Again, this applies only to people who receive WMC using an antenna - either rabbit ears or an outdoor antenna.
