We are now just two weeks away from the Big Switch to digital television. This impacts viewers who watch us using an antenna - either rabbit ears or an outdoor antenna.

Many of these over-the-air viewers have been prepared for the switch for months now, but all of them will still need to take one important, final step to complete the transition on June 12th. On that day, WMC-TV 5 and many other television stations throughout the country will be moving from a temporary digital channel to our permanent digital channel.

In order for you to receive WMC after we make that switch, you will need to "re-scan" the channels on your digital television or digital converter box. You may need to refer to the instructions for your equipment in order to do this.

Also, it will not do any good for you to re-scan today. This is something that you will have to do after we make our final conversion on June 12th.

We plan on throwing the switch on our new, more powerful transmitter at 12:01 a.m., the very first thing on the morning of Friday, June 12th. So as soon as you wake up on that Friday morning, before you have that first cup of coffee, please remember to re-scan the channels on your TV sets so you'll be able to continue watching WMC-TV 5.

That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email or call 800-465-1210.
