Kansas Could be on Tigers Slate for 2009 in Hoops

New University of Memphis Basketball Coach Josh Pastner admits he's a Rookie at One Thing..

That's scheduling.

But, Pastner says his Tigers will have quite an early season wake-up call to tip off 2009.

"As of today," Pastner said, "we play Kansas in St. Louis the second game of the season. They'll be either ranked 1 or 2 with Kentucky so it'll be a really good test early.">

Pastner says Arkansas vs Louisville would be part of a Double-Header in St. Louis.

The Tigers new Bench boss completes his staff by officially naming Jack Murphy as his Third Assistant.

Murphy served as Video Coordinator and Advance Scout for the Denver Nuggets.

"He'll supervise individual workouts..after working with guys like Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups. We go back to Arizona where he was excellent in getting guys ready to play."

Players who could use individual attention are Redshirt Freshman Angel Garcia, and new signee Martin Ngoloro...a 20 year old Wing from the French Alps whom Pastner signed after watching extensive video.

"I'm still wondering do I call him Martine, Martan..he's a good athlete so i'll call him rebounder and shooter. He must get more physical and gain in strength."

As far as the current NCAA investigation, Pastner remains as upbeat as the day he was hired in April.

"You spread the word, nothing will effect this current team or the future of this program going forward. We've been assured by the administration, the NCAA, nothing will effect us going forrward."
