TUNICA, MS (WMC-TV) - A Tunica business is looking for people who are willing to dive into their work.

The Tunica River Park and Aquarium is quietly tucked away right next to the Fitzgerald's casino. It is a place where you can experience the wonders of nature up close and personal. But wait, there's more.

"It was also the southeast travel attraction of the year for our museum," Clair Pittman of the Tunica Convention and Visitors Bureau said Thursday. "It's a great opportunity to get on the Tunica Queen and cruise all day, ride on the airboat."

But real the stars of the show are several varieties of fish that swim in their two fresh water aquariums.  Like anything else, they need to be well taken care of, which is where officials hope YOU will come in.

"Our aquarium at the Tunica River park is currently looking for volunteers, and you need to be scuba certified," Pittman said.

Volunteers like Chris Trosclair, who has been diving for several years, and started volunteering about a year ago. He says it allows him to provide a service for the museum and do what he enjoys.

"Around this part of the Mississippi, there's no place for us to dive locally, so by coming up here, doing the aquarium, it gives us a chance to get in the water and peddle around," Trosclair said.

So if you are certified and love volunteering, officials encourage you to stop by.

"You have to enjoy doing what your doing to make it worthwhile," Trosclair said.

A volunteer meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday, June 10, at the Southaven Library. For more information call 662-429-4065.
