MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A woman was thrown to the asphalt and dragged several feet during a violent, drive-by purse snatching in a Memphis Wal-Mart parking lot.

The incident, which happened outside the Raleigh store on May 18, was captured on camera.

26-year-old Tracy Richard was pushing a shopping cart to her car when a she was attacked by three suspects in a moving vehicle. One of the suspects leaned out of the passenger's side window and grabbed Richard's purse from her shoulder.

"And I looked up and the guy was saying "let go of your purse b***h! And out of nowhere, the driver took off with me still hanging," said Richard.

She suffered scrapes and bruises after she tumbled to the ground and was dragged several feet.

"I could have been pulled under the car, killed, anything," she said. "I go to Wal-Mart all the time and never expected anything like that to happen."

She says her attackers "sped off like it was nothing."

The robbers got away with Richard's credit cards, cash, cell phone and a digital camera.

On Thursday, both security guards and police were visible in the Wal-Mart parking lot. But Richard says that at the time of the attack, store security failed to show up until after Memphis Police had arrived at the scene.

Authorities say the suspects were driving a gold Dodge Stratus or Intrepid. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
