MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Memphis police officer and father of three who died in a motorcycle accident will be laid to rest Monday.

Officer Rico McMoore was killed last Monday when his motorcycle crashed into a car that had just pulled out from a stop sign at the intersection of Sea Isle Road and Quince. He was off-duty at the time.

On Sunday, McMoore's friends, family members and colleagues from the Memphis Police Department gathered to remember a man they say devoted his life to helping others.

"It's devastating. One day you see a good man doing wonderful things, working for the community and doing well. Next day, he's gone," said friend Tamira Byrd.

McMoore was an eight-year police veteran. He worked with MPD's Organized Crime Unit before being assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division at the Raines precint.

His funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 Monday morning at New Direction Church.
