MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Storms passing through the Memphis area caused a large tree to topple down on top of a home in the 1700 block of Kendale Avenue just before 5 o'clock Thursday morning.

Bobbie Henry and her daughter had just left one of the rooms where the tree fell causing serious damage to the home.

"I'm still nervous and shaken," Henry said.

The house was heavily damaged, with shattered bathroom fixtures, busted lamps, and more.  Henry refused to even go back inside a room where she was nearly crushed by the tree.

"You can see all the way to the sky from that bedroom," she said. "It's not safe at all."

Henry was sleeping inside that bedroom, alongside her daughter, when the raging storm startled her awake.

"I heard something like, you know, like something was fixing to fall," she said.

The pair bolted from the room seconds before their neighbor's tree plowed through the roof, and one to the bed.

"I guarantee you Sunday, I have a testimony at church," she said. "When you see that bedroom, you just wonder, how did we actually get out?"

The Memphis Fire Department responded to the scene to cut off power to the home.
