OLIVE BRANCH, MS (WMC-TV) - An Olive Branch condominium complex was struck by a possible tornado Friday evening.

One unit at the Oaks at Parkview was completely destroyed and several others were badly damaged.

Lee Wickenhiser's home was literally blown away moments after his wife Beverly watched the storm warnings on television.

The unit's windows were blown out and the roof collapsed, burying Beverly Wickenhiser in debris. She was rescued by firefighters.

"Things were blowing all over me and around me. But I was very fortunate - God was here, or I would be dead if not," she said.

Her car was also destroyed in Friday's storms.

Neighbors said they're convinced the complex took a direct hit by a tornado.

Pieces of a fence that separates the complex from adjacent ball fields were found hundreds of yards away.

Oaks resident Bill Newport's arms are covered in tiny cuts after he was struck by flying chards of glass.

"I looked up and saw something fly by the window, and this exploded glass went over my head," he said.

Newport and his wife are among the retirees who had planned to spend their golden years at the Oaks.

Now they're left picking up the pieces.
