The charity Locks of Love has caused lots of confusion for some Mid-Southerners, especially if your favorite salon is locked out of the loop.
The non-profit based in West Palm Beach, FL, collects hair to provide hair-pieces to financially strapped families whose children have lost their hair due to any medical condition (home page: www.locksoflove.org).
"Holly" of Millington, TN, chimes in:
"I would like to donate my hair for Locks of Love. I am having problems finding a salon that know the guidelines. Can you please help?"
Holly, you can go to any salon and ask the stylist to cut some of your hair to set aside for Locks of Love.
The basic guidelines are:
* The hair must be AT LEAST 10 INCHES TIP TO TIP.
* It must be IN A PONYTAIL OR BRAID BEFORE IT'S CUT.
* It must be CLEAN AND COMPLETELY DRY before mailing.
* It must be mailed IN A PLASTIC BAG INSIDE A PADDED ENVELOPE to:
Locks of Love, 234 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33405
