MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Memphis police have three people in custody as they investigate the weekend murder of a pizza delivery man.

At a press conference, Memphis Police Major Mike Ryall said it was around midnight Saturday when Pizza Hut delivery driver Stephen Faulkner attempted to deliver a pizza to a house on Brentdale in Parkway Village.

"Once he arrived on the scene and he made an attempt to deliver," Ryall said. "Of course the house was abandoned. He was robbed subsequently after he made that scene, and as a result of the robbery, he was shot and died."

Faulkner's body was found in the yard next door to the empty house where he was shot - and his car was still running. Ryall said investigators checking to see if there are any cases of other pizza delivery drivers being robbed in the area.

"They have been very helpful with us but that's also at the beginning stages, and right now we are trying to compile as much info as we can," he said.

Late this afternoon Pizza Hut spokesperson Chris Fuller said, "Our hearts go out to our employee and his family...We aren't providing further comment as the police conduct and investigation."

Investigators declined to release the names and ages of the people they are questioning, saying they are still investigating to determine what connection the three may have to the murder.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 901-528-CASH.
