BROWNSVILLE, TN (WMC-TV) - Police in Brownsville are investigating their first murder of the year.

Brad Perkins, 31, visited his family in Brownsville on June 27th, but that visit was short lived.

"Wasn't here 24 hours and somebody gunned him down," said Perkins' cousin, Ida Carouthers.

Perkins was found dead in his car at the corner of Scott and Hurtle in Brownsville.  Family members say when they arrived on the scene, Perkins had been shot four times in the back of the head.

Perkins' sister Charron said her brother had gone to a party at his cousin's house the night he was shot.  They said he wasn't alone when he was killed.

"Those are his friends on Scott Street. Supposedly his friends, he grew up with on Scott Street," Charron Perkins said.

Police are actively investigating the case, but still haven't identified any suspects. That has family members worried.

"This killer's out on the loose...he can hurt somebody else's family...we want him caught," Charron Perkins said.

"They need to do more investigation and whoever did this, please come up front and turn yourself in," Carouthers added.

Even though no one is saying much about the murder, Perkins' family hopes someone will say something to authorities about who committed this crime.

"His life's supposed to be taken by God, not a person," Charron Perkins said. '"That's not fair to us, his kids, his family."
