MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Memphis man remembered the times he spent with Michael Jackson as the singer was celebrated Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Broderick Morris had a truly unique relationship with the King of Pop, who he first met six ago.

"In 2003, I met him for like 10 minutes and we never really talked again until after the trial, when we started working on the Japan MTV awards," Morris said.

Morris, a music promoter and CEO of Positive Productions Yokohama in Japan, brought Jackson to Japan for the event in 2006.

"He was behind the wall getting ready to walk on the stage," Morris said. "He heard all the fans screaming his name.  The next thing I knew, tears were rolling down his eyes.  He said, 'Morris, please give me some tissue.'"

Morris invited Jackson to Japan again for a series of VIP and fan appreciation parties in 2007. Morris said to honor his friend's memory and the great times they've shared, he's working on a photo book about Jackson.

"I have photos that have never been seen before," he said. "They are very touching photos."

Morris said Jackson's music, spirit and dedication will be missed but not forgotten.

"He was a hard worker.  Did everything I needed him to do.  He was a man of his word," he said.

Morris could not attend Jackson's memorial service in Los Angeles, but he did watch on television.  He hopes to have the photo book on Jackson published by September.
