HORN LAKE, MS (WMC-TV) - From Memphis to Mississippi, a Mid-South business is packing up and heading south.
The Rite-Hite Corporation, which has been in Memphis since 2002, has grown out of its existing facility and is moving to Horn Lake, Mississippi.
Rite-Hite's Manufacturing Vice President Louie Patron said the move was necessary for his company.
"We're expanding," he said. "We wanted more space, so we've done a year and a half look for a building and space, and found a 200,000 square foot place in Horn Lake, Mississippi."
The company, which manufactures loading dock equipment and levelers for trucks, is headquartered in Wisconsin, and employs 1,600 people across several states.
Patron said the company's new warehouse, located just off of I-55 near Goodman Road, will give them enough space for expansion, which also means adding to a current staff of about 70 employees.
"We'll move our existing facility with our existing employees over to the new facility," he said. "As the economy picks up and our rates go up, we will hire more employees."
Horn Lake Mayor Nat Baker called Rite-Hite a "good get," adding he's not done yet.
"Companies are coming to Horn Lake," he said. "(We're) very close on one of them. It will be announced in the very near future. Right now, the focus is on Horn Lake, and hopefully we keep it going."
Rite-Hite signed a 14 year lease with Horn Lake.
