Grizzlies beat Thunder in summer league debut

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The Memphis Grizzlies didn't have to wait too long to see their prized number 2 recruit in action.

That's what summer league is all about.

Hasheem Thabeet, along with fellow rookies Sam Young and DeMarre Carrol made their NBA debut in Las Vegas, taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Thabeet put in 13 for the Grizzlies, mostly in the first half.

Marcus Williams, a candidate for the back up point guard position, dished out 17 assists. That's the most ever in NBA Summer League action.

Many of those assists going to Sam Young, who had a team high 14 points as one of four Grizzlies to put up double digits in the points column.

Grizzlies lead from start to finish, winning 86-57.
