SOUTHAVEN, MS (WMC-TV) - Workers at a Mid-South church have plenty of cleaning up to do after strong storms rumbled through late Monday morning.

When it rains, it literally pours inside Garden of Grace Church in Southaven.  Nora Noel has been reaching out to the community through the church for years, restoring and rebuilding lives.

"We're an angel food ministry," Noel said. "We're a hub.  We service 14 other churches out of this building."

Now Noel finds herself in desperate need of some help.  In June, severe storms hit Southaven, ripping part of the roof off the small ministry and activity center.  Additional downpours Monday morning's created a huge mess.

"It destroyed the beds, furniture, files and computers," Noel said.

Noel used towels and 30 gallon bins as she tried to collect the water.

"We're doing everything we can to soak up water to keep the building from getting further soaked," she said.

Nearly one month after the June storm, Noel said, an insurance adjuster issued her a check for $10,000 to fix the roof.  But it wasn't enough, so she refused the check.  Contractors told her it will an estimated $35,000 to $40,000 to make the necessary repairs.

"Right is right.  Wrong is wrong.  I feel like we've been wronged because we are a ministry," she said.

Noel said she would rely on her faith to keep her from getting discouraged.  She plans to continue doing what she's been called to do.
