Turns out the Memphis Grizzlies are now getting plenty of company in the Allen Iverson Sweepstakes.
The Los Angeles Clippers are the latest team looking to add the 10-time All-Star.
Numerous reports in the L.A. Times and NBA.com say the Clippers are talking with Iverson's agent, Leon Rose...and confirm a 1-year offer for the Mid-Level Exception, which is just over $5.8 Million Dollars.
That's about $800 Thousand more the Grizzlies offer.
NBA teams get to use the Mid-Level Exception every other year.
Besides Memphis, the Charlotte Bobcats, and Miami Heat are the other teams interested in Iverson.
Reports say ALL teams want A.I. in the same role...to come off the bench..something Iverson repeatedly balked at last season in Detroit, saying he'd rather retire before becoming a reserve.
The Clippers want Iverson to play behind incumbent Baron Davis at the Point, or second year star Eric Gordon at the two.
Both say they'd welcome Iverson in L.A.
Grizzlies Owner Michael Heisley tells NBA.com money won't be the motivating factor.
He feels the Heat are in the Lead for Iverson because of the Market, and it's the only team playoff team pursuing him.
Because of the salary cap, Miami can only offer the veterans' minimum $2-million dollars.
