MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Two people are recovering after being gunned down outside a club on the east end of Beale Street Sunday morning.
The incident happened the same weekend a Tennessee law allowing guns in bars took effect.
Two people were wounded, one critically, at 8:30 a.m. outside The Orchid Club.
The club is located outside of Beale Street's Entertainment district - therefore, the Beale Street gun ban does not apply.

The owner says a group of men were asked to leave the club a while after it closed. The men had been arguing with some people outside.
The club owner asked to remain anonymous out of concern for her safety.

"Why do we have to have violence? You should be able to go out and enjoy yourself whether on Beale Street or any street, any nightclub, without having to be fearful of people with guns," she said.
The owner has several signs posted that warning patrons not to bring guns inside.
She says she believes her club's security guards and metal detector are what prevented any violence from occurring inside the establishment.
