Former Tigers and Grizzlies Guard Antonio Burks Shot in Memphis

Former University of Memphis and Grizzlies Guard Antonio Burks continues in Critical Condition at the Med.

Burks was one of 2 people SHOT in an apparent Robbery attempt in the backyard of a Relatives' Home in Memphis off LaClede and South 4th.

A bystander rushed Burks to the Med in his private vehicle.

The man, Anthony Jefferson, just happens to be a Medical Assistant at Methodist's Intensive Care Unit.

He says Burks was conscious the whole time.

Burks was a symbol of Memphis Tigers Basketball in the early John Calipari era..

Coming up tough and somewhat undisciplined out of Booker T. Washington High School..Burks refined his game leading the Tigers to the 2002 NIT Championship..

A second Round NCAA Appearance..Conference USA Player of the Year Honors..and earning himself a second round draft pick in the NBA by Orlando.

The Magic traded Burks on Draft night to Memphis.

He first season with The Grizzlies was their first in FedExForum in 2004.

Burks played 2-years with the Grizzlies as a backup point Guard.

He was continuing his career in Europe.
