MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The image of Yogi Bear goes hand in hand with recreation and fun, but Yogi would not be happy to know that several criminals recently broke into the storage area of the Memphis Jellystone Park in Horn Lake.

Along with an RV park, the facility boasts a large storage facility, which was the target of the break-in.

"We had four unknown black males go in there," said Lt. Scott Evans of the Horn Lake Police Department. "They did a lot of damage to RV's."

Police have surveillance images of the individuals they say were involved, and believe they were driving an 80's model Nissan Sentra or Maxima. They took several items, including TV's, VCR's, DVD players, stereo systems and other equipment.

Evans said the area they broke into was a very secure part of the storage facility, but somehow they were able to gain access.

"They had to have a gate code," Evans said. "You have to have a code to get into the gate, and they had a code to get in, which they could have got from anywhere."

Steve Johnston, who works and lives at the park, said it was the first time he can remember this type of damage at the facility.  Johnson said one of the victims is in the military.

"He just parked his truck, car and motorcycle here," Johnson said. "He's in the Navy I believe, and is gonna be gone for a couple of years."

Anyone with information about the break-in is urged to call the Horn Lake Police Department or DeSoto County Crimestoppers at 662-429-TIPS.
