COVINGTON, TN (WMC-TV) - Tipton County could soon make an appearance on the silver screen.

Memphis writer and director John Holiday was inside Covington's Ruffin Theater Sunday, shooting for his new movie called Angel of Mercy.

The movie is about a small town girl who's believed to be dead.  But residents in the town are surprised when the young girl re-appears alive and seeks vengeance on the person who left her for dead.

Angel of Mercy was written by Holiday, who hopes to be finished shooting the movie in the next three weeks.'

"This brings attention to the county...when you have attention that's positive like this, it shows we're being creative in a small town and that brings money," Holiday said.

Local actors have enjoyed the shoot.

"Its been a lot of fun," Jeff Yarbrough said. "It's been fun being able to assist in a venture like this and see how movies are made, and it brings attention to the Arts Council and county together in support of this project."

Covington, Munford, Atoka and Memphis have all been used as locations for Angel of Mercy.  Once shooting is complete, Holiday will take his film to Los Angeles for screening.  He says it could take six months to a year before he hears whether or not it will be released on the big screen.
