Tigers Picked Third by C-USA Media

East Carolina and Houston are the runnaway picks by the Media as winners of Conference USA's Eastern and Western divisions in Football for the upcoming season..

The Pirates played in Last Season's Liberty Bowl and return most of their starting 22 on Offense and Defense, including Quarterback Patrick Pinkney, and Pre-Season Defensive Player of the Year, Linebacker C.J. Wilson..

Houston has Offensive Player of the Year in Quarterback Casey Keenum.

The Two teams do NOT meet in the regular season, meaning they COULD go into the C-USA Championship game Unbeaten in League Play..

Here's the Projected Order of Finish..

C-USA EAST

1. East Carolina

2. Southern Miss

3. Memphis

4. Central Florida

5. Marshall

6. UAB

C-USA WEST

1. Houston

2. Tulsa

3. UTEP

4. Rice

5. SMU

6. Tulane

For Memphis getting picked third in the East is not a bad prospect, given the unknown of all the New Transfers eligible to play this year...

But, No Tigers, individually, are mention on the Leagues' Pre-Season First Team.

Only 4 make second team honors..including Curtis Steele, who rushed for more than 12-hundred last season.

Needless to say, U of M Head Coach Tommy West is somewhat Miffed by the Media Vote.

"We've been to 4 Bowls in the last 5 years...I guess we'll really be pretty good once we get some players!" West said. "The shocking thing is we only got 4 players on the Second Team, and (Wide Receivers) Duke Calhoun and Carlos Singleton didn't make that!" Calhoun, a former Raleigh-Egypt star, and the 6'9" Singleton are two record setting wideouts for Memphis.

U of M Running Back Curtis Steele, who rushed for more than 12-hundred yards last season, did make C-USA's Pre Season Second team...along with Tigers Offensive Guard Dominic Riley, Linebacker Greg Jackson, and Kick Returner Defensive Back D.A. Griffin.
