Grizzlies Mayo Finally Gets Rookie Honor

The last NBA Regular season ended almost 4-months ago..but, it's never to late to receive a League Honor..

Memphis Grizzlies Guard O.J. Mayo is the happy recipient.

Mayo finally gets his award for winning the last NBA Western Conference Rookie of the Month award for April.

The 6'4" Guard out of U.S.C. averaged more than 20 points for the Month...

He also won for October/November..and finished second to Derrick Rose for Rookie of the Year.

Mayo, who just returned from Las Vegas where he and Grizz Teammate Rudy Gay participated in the USA Basketball Olympic Mini-Camp..says he thinks Grizzlies will be much better this coming season.

Mayo says he's improved his workouts now that he knows what to expect from Pro Basketball.. He says he and Rudy got to work with the Best young players in the League in Vegas, and that experience is invaluable.  Gay scored 27 points on 11 of 12 from the floor in the USA Basketball mini camp final Blue and White game.

Mayo also says he's excited about the proposal of Allen Iverson possibly joining the Grizzlies.

He says he sees it as a step in improving the teams' talent and is all for it IF it happens.

Mayo is hosting a kids camp this week at FedExfForum that runs through Friday.
