MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A husband and father of five was one the four victims of a tragic crash over the weekend.

Maurice Crawley, 33, was one of four people that died in crash early on I-40 early Sunday morning.  Speaking to Action News 5 on Tuesday, Monica Crawley held her head down in disbelief, as the accidental death of her husband was almost too much to bear.

"Been married for 8 years," she said. "His birthday is Friday."

Crawley and three of his friends, 41-year-old Jerry Knox, 22-year-old Lakeshia Spencer, and 35-year-old Charlotte Ryan Smith were all killed early Sunday on I-40 at the North Watkins overpass. Police said the Jeep Cherokee the four were riding in swerved to avoid a motorcycle, struck a guard rail, and went down an embankment onto North Watkins.

Tuesday, a memorial marked the spot where the accident occurred.

Crawley said her husband, an employee at HBN Corporation in Memphis, was a hardworking man and proud father of five children.

"He took care of the kids," she said. "He was nice to everybody.  He was not harmful.  He joked a lot.  He just played with everybody."

Now, she and her family must comfort and console each other.

"Half of me is gone," she said.

Police are still searching for the driver of the motorcycle involved in the accident, though investigators said Monday he would likely not be charged.
