MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Memphis family is demanding answers after a young man died mysteriously following his arrest in Rutherford County.

Andron Reed and his brother were involved in a car crash on Route 24 in Murfreesboro while traveling to visit friends at Middle Tennessee State University Friday evening.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officers arrested Reed on multile charges, including driving while intoxicated. They say he did not stop when officers tried to pull him over, and they eventually hit another car.

Shortly after he was booked at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, Reed was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead Saturday.

Family members say Reed did not suffer from any known medical problems.

Authorities say he was involved in an altercation inside the jail. TBI Spokesperson Kristin Helm said the agency is looking into charges that Reed was combative during the booking process, and a struggle may have led to his death.

Reed's family members told Action News 5 that they didn't believe the allegations and that they're very suspicious of the young man's death.
