MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Three movies are currently filming in the Mid-South, including one in Memphis.

MTV has chosen the perfect spot to film it's new horror series "Savage County," and it's located right in the heart of Midtown.  Production crews transformed a vacant home on Cowden into a set for the new film.  The home is one of six locations chosen in Memphis and Arkansas.

"Savage County" is about a group of Texas high school students who clash with a rural family following a practical joke.  Production for the movie began on August 4th with a $250,000 budget.

The production crew consists of 35 members, and were told 70 percent of the workers in the movie are from the Memphis area.

Local actors include Jon Sparks, Ivey McLemore, and Ryan Carter.  Los Angeles Actors Ana Ayora, who starred in the movie Marley and Me, and Ken Luckey will also appear in the film.
