Crompton to Start for Vols

Jonathan Crompton will be the Opening Day starter at Quarterback for the Tennessee Vols.

New UT Head Coach Lane Kiffin says the Senior gets the Nod over Junior Nick Stephens after reviewing stats and film from all three of the Vols Fall scrimmages.

Kiffin says the race was close, but Crompton was the more accurate of the two.

Both started 6-games last season under Phil Fulmer, with mediocre results in what turned out to be a losing season.

The Vols continue to lose Wide Receivers to injury.

Junior Gerald Jones is expected to miss 3-to-6 weeks with a High Ankle Sprain.
