BARTLETT, TN (WMC-TV) - A woman was found after she had been bound and assaulted late Monday night in Bartlett, authorities said.

Police were called to a residence in the 6300 block of Fairway Hights Cove just before 11:00 p.m. Monday after a neighbor reported a disturbance. When officers entered the residence, they found four children under the age of six, who told officers something was wrong.

A short time later, officers found the woman, who was taken to The MED in critical condition.

Officers located the woman's husband, Marcelino Navarro-Caldern, a short time later, after he left the residence on foot.  He was taken into custody without incident.

Tuesday, some neighbors said the couple had been having trouble, and the victim's husband had not been living at the house for sometime.

But other neighbors said the incident caught them off guard.

"It's really unbelievable - hard to believe," neighbor Lisa North said. "I've never seen them have any kind of problems over there."

Authorities said charges are pending and the incident is still under investigation.

None of the children in the residence were injured.  The victim is expected to survive.
