FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - College students can feel overwhelmed by the process of applying for competitive awards. The awards can help a student pay tuition and other expenses or open doors to specialized study.
Some universities have set up special offices that are dedicated to helping students apply for the competitive awards.
The University of Arkansas Press has published a book of essays that are intended to help. The essays in "Leading the Way: Student Engagement and Nationally Competitive Awards" are about different aspects of the awards process. They include topics from how a university can set up an awards office to how a student can prepare for an interview.
The book's editor, Suzanne McCray, has edited two previous UA Press books on competitive awards.
