MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) -  It was an emotional reunion Sunday, when a Midtown mother severely burned in a house explosion last month was finally reunited with her seven-year-old son.

Vicki Browder hadn't seen her son, Ridley, since the explosion caused by a gas leak left her hospitalized in The Regional Medical Center.

Browder began walking with a walker earlier last week. By Friday, she was walking on her own.

"It was her incentive to walk a lot so she could see him in the waiting room," says husband Bill Browder.

And that's exactly what she did.

"The doctor said, 'do you want to quit?,'  but mama said I want to see my baby Sunday," said Ridley.

Browder was badly injured and suffered burns all over her body, but her husband says she's determined to get her life back. "Monday, off the ventilator. A couple more tubes came out Wednesday, feeding tube came out Thursday or Friday."

Browder hopes to be at her new home a month from now.

"I hope everybody says more prayers for mama to come back to her house. She's never seen it before," said Ridley.

She wants to be back together with her husband and children she loves dearly.
