Tyler Bass is now the Starting Quarterback for the University of Memphis Football team.
That's the word today from Head Coach Tommy West.
West says Bass, a Red Shirt Freshman, is about as healthy as he'll get coming off knee surgery which prematurely ended his first season last year.
He missed all of Spring Practice and had to have his knee drained during fall camp.
Bass replaces Senior Arkelon Hall, who, once again, was ineffective over the weekend in the Tigers 31-to-14 loss at Middle Tennessee State.
West says Bass, who led the Tigers on a late touchdown drive against the Blue Raiders, should give Memphis the mobility, and Big Play ability they sorely need from the QB spot.
The 6'3", 220 pound Bass gets his first start against UT Martin.
Kickoff is Saturday, 7pm at the Liberty Bowl.
