MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Dozens of people braved the elements Wednesday for a chance at hundreds of dollars worth of free food.
Wednesday's rainy weather was no match for die hard Chick-Fil-A fans who started lining up just after 6:00am.
"We've got our projector in here," camper Andy Langford said. "We kinda tilted our tent to project a Batman movie."
The campers were ready for a 24 hour marathon in the restaurant's parking lot, vying for a chance at being one of the first 100 customers at Thursday's grand opening.
"They get a year's supply of Chick-Fil-A," store owner Steve Collins said. "They get one meal a week for 52 weeks."
It's a prize worth about $260, plug bragging rights. St. Petersburg resident Richard Coley, one of the Memphis campers, said Wednesday was the 34th time he had waited in line for a grand opening prize.
"It's really good food," he said. "It's a company I really believe in."
As the campers patiently waited, Collins said store employees had their work cut out for them.
"We're getting food prepared, marketing out there, and the phones have been lighting up," Collins said.
The store opens at 6:00 a.m. Thursday.
