MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Memphis police are investigating the Thursday morning death of a three-month-old baby.

Distraught and emotional, Donisha Davenport said the sudden death of her nephew, Dorian Chaney, has not only been tough on her, but also the baby's mother.

"I can't explain how she feels because I've never experienced it, but she's really torn up about it," Davenport said.

According to police, the child was pronounced dead early Thursday morning after arriving at LeBonheur Hospital.  Investigators have not said how or why the child died.

"All I know is she was at work.  He was left in the care of the father," Davenport said.

Thursday, police classed the case as a 'death investigation.'  Davenport said she still can't believe her little nephew is gone.

"He won't be here for me to see again, to grow up with my kids, or even her kids, so at this point I don't know what to do," she said.

However, Davenport says she and her family won't rest until they get answers.

Memphis Police have released few details about the child's death.  Stay with Action News 5 and WMCTV.com for updates on this story.
