COLLIERVILLE, TN (WMC-TV) - Investigators took a nine-month-old baby from a home in Collierville after they discovered a working meth lab inside.

Shelby County Sheriff's deputies uncovered the drugs at a house in the 10,000 block of Collierville Road.

Investigators quarantined the house Thursday night after removing large amounts of meth-making materials inside.

Authorities arrested a 31-year-old woman and a 28 year-old man, and took the baby to a hospital as a precaution.

Residents in the Shelby County suburb say they can't believe a drug bust happened in their normally quiet neighborhood.

"My husband and I walked down last night with our dog, and we saw a lot of undercover officers, a lot of spotlights on the house," said neighbor Theresa Gardner. "It looked like they were bringing a lot of stuff out and placing it on the ground outside."

Jim Turner, who lives in the nearby Whispering Woods subdivision, says he moved to Collierville to get away from crime.

"It really doesn't make any difference where you live anymore as far as crime goes, because anyone who has access to a car can go commit their crime anywhere," he said.

The baby remains in the custody of the Department of Children's Services. Investigators are expected to formally charge the couple soon.
