MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Memphis City Schools security officer was arrested for allegedly having had sex with a student in the security office at Northside High School.
Mario Harris, 29, was charged Friday night with statutory rape by an authority figure. Police say he carried on a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student. The victim told police her relationship with Harris began back in April.

According to the affidavit of complaint, the teenager told police Harris wooed her with "chocolate covered strawberries" and a "Boost cell phone," and said that "they talk on the phone all the time."

The girl's mother became suspicious after she saw the gifts and discovered text messages on her daughter's phone.

Harris was subsequently fired Friday from his position as a reserve officer with the Memphis Police Department after Director Larry Godwin learned of the charges.
