MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Shelby County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man after he allegedly robbed a bank wearing face paint, a wig and pajama pants.

The robbery happened Thursday morning at a Suntrust Bank located inside Kroger at Highway 64 and Fletcher Trace.

"I just heard a lot of commotion going on, and I was in the back of the store and came up to the front, and everyone was panicking," said shopper Judy Busch.

Authorities said a man entered the store just before noon and robbed the bank branch.

"I guess people are really desperate and everything, but I don't see where they need to come into a grocery store and rob the bank," Busch said.

Investigators said the suspect's face was painted black and green, and he he wore a wig, tee shirt and a pair of pajama bottoms.

The man allegedly threatened the teller with a weapon and demanded money.

Authorities captured the suspect moments later at a nearby apartment complex as he tried to flee in his car.

Busch says she's glad no one was hurt. "It happens everywhere. It doesn't matter. You would think that you'd be safe in your own neighborhood where you go shopping everyday."

Investigators have not yet released the suspect's name or the charges against him.
