MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A piece of plywood covered a busted window Monday at a popular Mid-South restaurant that has been open for only a month.

The Midtown Chick-Fil-A opened September 17th.  Since then, long lines and non-stop business have become commonplace.  But early Sunday morning, the restaurant was closed and empty when someone took a chance - on burglary.

According to a police report, a series of cameras recorded the entire incident.  Surveillance video shows a group of four or five people hauling the restaurant's safe through a window and loading it into a truck.  Later, the first employee to show up for work found the damage and called police.

The report says the restaurant's alarm was still activated, and the alarm company told restaurant's manager there hadn't been any activity on it all night, even though was set to go off if the safe is removed.

According to the report, the safe had an contained an undisclosed amount of cash, while damage to the window was estimated at $400.

Managers at the restaurant declined to comment for this story.  Police started their investigation with two former employees of the restaurant, but no one has been arrested in the case.
