Parent Company Closing Memphis MotorSports Park

After a 23 year run, the Memphis MotorSports Park is closing down on order from its' parent company Dover MotorSports.

As we told you earlier in this Newscast, Dover is shutting the track after a deal fell through to sell it earlier this summer.

Dover owns 3 other tracks, in Delaware, St. Louis, and Nashville, all larger than the one in Memphis.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series Race is moving to St. Louis.

The Truck Race is moving to Nashville.

Dover VP for Finance Timothy Horne tells me the company owns some 15-Hundred Acres at Nashville, compared to just 400 at Memphis, making expansion more difficult here.

He says the NHRA Race will just be removed from that circuits' schedule.

Horne says an ASA scheduled for next weekend WILL be held.

He says Dover will look for a buyer for the Memphis facility.
