That didn't take long, did it?
Grizzlies Guard Allen Iverson Finally gets on the floor for Memphis Monday night at Sacramento..and he's Full Speed talking about Playing Time.
The Guy's got a point..
A.I. a 10 time All-Star made his debut at 4:36 of the first quarter..
It didn't take him long to shake off the rust of a partially torn hammy which caused him to miss the entire Pre-Season and the first 3 regular season games..
He didn't get in again until the end of the 3rd quarter and immediately went to work.
The former League MVP hit 11 points with 2 assists and 2 turnovers in just over 17-minutes.
The Jumper looking sweet from the elbow and top of the key.. Plus a nice Trey off a pass back from Zach Randolph, and a running layup in the lane.
After the game..the Answer gave THIS answer to a question about his readiness to play after injury.
Iverson said, -quote- "I had no problems. I had a problem with my butt sitting on the bench for so long."
Iverson added he's not a bench player or a 6th Man and his resume shows it.
"I don't think it has anything to do with me being selfish. It's just who I am. I don't want to change what gave me all the success that I've had since I've been in this league. I'm not a sixth man. And that's that."
Grizzlies Coach Lionel Hollins says roles will be defined as the season develops, saying after missing the pre-season, right now he's great with the second unit.
Hollins says "Sometimes roles get defined that you have to be willing to accept. We didn't expect A..I. to miss eight preseason games and three regular-season games, either. So we'll play it by ear and see what happens. Allen can score and his instincts will take over."
I say look for Iversons' minutes to increase with each game.
The score was tied when he went out.
The Grizz lost by 11 in Overtime.
Memphis plays at Golden State Wednesday.
