MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Allen Iverson has left the building, and so has the money spent to promote him.

The skies were gloomy Tuesday above FedExForum, and according to Dennis O'Connor, vice president of ticket sales and service, so are some Grizzlies fans, disappointed now that Allen Iverson's experiment with the team is over.

"We're getting more calls from people that aren't happy with the way the situation worked out," O'Connor said.

The team announced Monday the 10-time NBA all-star will note return to the franchise. Even though Iverson will forfeit the remainder of his $3.1 million contract, O'Connor says he's not sure what impact Iverson's departure could have on ticket sales.

"We've had a great summer, selling lots of season tickets, before we signed Iverson," he said. "We had a little of a bump once he was signed here, but people are excited about the direction this team is taking."

Iverson played just three games for the Grizzlies, and fans were looking forward to the rest of season, buying tickets and all sorts of merchandise.

"Allen Iverson is one of the best players in the league, and I'm sure there's a demand for any of his merchandise, whether it's the Grizzlies, 76ers, or Pistons," O'Connor said.

And what about billboards around town promoting Iverson and the Grizzlies?

"Allen was a part of our marketing campaign," O'Connor said. "A lot of what we've done has been focused on the team. As we've done with other players that have been traded or left from the season, we'll make adjustments down the road."
