MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Mid-South woman was shocked recently when she found out a towing company had applied for the title to her truck.

Monday, Jacqueline Moden said she still can't believe what happened to her.  According to Moden, in 2007, she and her husband paid PB&J Towing $325 dollars to get their Chevy Silverado truck back after the company towed it.

Recently, more than two years later, Moden was shocked to receive a letter from the State of Tennessee.

"Of course we were totally confused," she said. "What is this about?"

According to the letter, the towing company had applied for the title and registration for Moden's truck.

"You're going to give me a cash receipt for $325, yet you apply for title and registration to my vehicle that I picked up and gave you my identification," she said.

It's unclear why the towing company requested the title to Moden's truck.

"How do you mistakenly file for title and application to someone's vehicle that you are not in possession of?" she asked.

In order to fix the problem, the Tennessee Department Of Revenue Taxpayer and Vehicle Services Division said Moden would need a receipt from the towing company - a receipt with the truck's VIN number, license plate number, and a signature from the towing company.

"We would not be able to renew the tags on the vehicle when it came time for renewal because there is a lien against it," she said.

Moden said after she made two more trips to PB&J, the company finally gave her the information.  The situation was resolved, and PB&J management said the company has no interest in the truck.
