Who will be the next University of Memphis Head Football Coach?
Washington Redskins Assistant Coach Jerry Gray has interviewed twice for the job, including speaking Tuesday afternoon with U of M Athletic Director R.C. Johnson.
He is actively campaigning to be the Tigers Head Coach.
Word is Gray, a former NFL All-Pro and currently the Redskins Defensive Backs Coach, is being pushed for the Memphis Job by former Redskins Head Coach Joe Gibbs.
Gibbs has the ear of Memphian and FedEx Founder Fred Smith, who's a minority owner of the Redskins.
His company paid Millions of Dollars for Naming Rights to the Redskins home stadium, FedExField.
Smith is a contributor to University of Memphis Athletics.
Former Tiger Larry Porter, the current Running Backs and Assistant Head Coach at LSU, is reportedly falling out of the running for the U of M job.
Tigers Athletic Director R.C. Johnson says he won't name a new coach till after the season, possibly Monday.
