Police search for clues in Monday night highway shooting

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Memphis police are still looking for whoever was responsible for the gun shots that rang out along Interstate 40 in Memphis late Monday night.

According to police, Kevin Mack and three of his passengers were traveling westbound on I-240 near Covington Pike when a late-model, black Pontiac G-6 approached them and nearly hit their car.

According to the incident report, Mack said an unknown suspect in the front passenger seat of the Pontiac started firing shots at his vehicle.  Mack said his vehicle was struck several times, and he was struck in the head before losing control of his vehicle and later running off the highway at exit 10.

Mack was transported to The MED in critical condition.  The other three passengers in his car were not injured.

The victims told police the suspect car took off and continued westbound on I-240 towards Austin Peay.
