Memphis woman dies in hospital after hit-and-run

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - 27-year-old Sharvetress Davis died at The Regional Medical Center Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle several hours earlier.

Davis was crossing Mendenhall near Knight Arnold around noon when she was hit.

The driver of the vehicle then drove into a gas station parking lot, turned around and left the scene traveling south on Mendenhall.

Davis was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition and later died.

The driver, described as a heavy-set, bearded black male in his early thirties, remains at large.

His vehicle is described as a white or cream-colored Buick with a light blue rag top, possibly with a Mississippi temporary tag displayed in the rear window.
